Our Capitol Extension (CAPEX) team received Notice to Proceed (NTP) for preconstruction services in August 2024 and immediately began work on Milestone 1 deliverables, focused on achieving the 40% design phase. Weekly task force meetings with Jacobs, Valley Metro, and the City of Phoenix have been instrumental in advancing the design process. The team plans to start subsurface investigations, potholing for utilities, and archeological investigations in May 2025, with construction anticipation to start in Spring of 2026.
The project will provide connections between the downtown Phoenix and the Arizona State Capitol area. This 0.8-mile extension to the existing system includes two new stations, and will connect state, regional, and local agencies as well as community partners. This project aims to and energize the downtown and State Capitol areas.
