The highly anticipated Petaluma Station has officially opened, marking a significant milestone in the expansion of the SMART passenger rail system. This transformative project includes the construction of a new platform, replacement of existing rail with a gauntlet track, railroad signal upgrades, and the addition of six miles of non-motorized pathway alongside the live track. The development also features pedestrian bridges, drainage improvements, and flatwork to enhance safety and accessibility for all users.
MRS played a pivotal role in the success of this project, particularly in the furnishing, installation, and testing of advanced signal and crossing equipment. The project included three temporary point protection software switches, four new signal houses, modifications to signal houses in 20 other locations, and 12 new pedestrian gates.
