The FrontRunner Forward Partners project team received Notice to Proceed on the FrontRunner double tracking project as preconstruction work forges along. We’re grateful for the opportunity to work on this project, building on a legacy for both UTA and the project team, as we collectively helped construct the original North and South segments.
The line currently serves the most populous region of Utah, running 89 miles from Ogden to Provo, Utah. In the years since it opened for public service, we’ve continued making various improvements, with tasks on multiple On-Call contracts, adding Vineyard Station, along with our subsidiary, MRS, providing PTC Implementation. Other Stacy Witbeck projects, such as Ogden BRT and the West Valley TRAX Light Rail Extension, provide people with direct access to and from the line.
The region is one of the fastest growing in the country and is projected to continue further growth. This, along with the announcement of the region hosting the 2034 Winter Olympics, calls for increased transit options to serve the community. FrontRunner 2X is one way UTA and UDOT are looking ahead with forward thinking initiatives to tackle the issue head-on. The scope is to implement 8 double track segments, and 1 track realignment segment along the existing line to increase train frequency and travel time reliability.
