Ogden BRT Awarded by AGC of Utah

Ogden BRT Awarded by AGC of Utah

The Association of General Contractors of America (AGC) of Utah recognized the hard work of the team involved with the new 5.3 mile Bus Rapid Transit line constructed in Ogden, UT. Service began on August 2, 2023, connecting the Ogden FrontRunner commuter rail station to Weber State University and McKay Dee Hospital.

The team worked hard with Utah Transit Authority, Weber State University, and other partners to overcome multiple challenges, including the global pandemic, a record amount of snowfall, and a brief concrete shortage, to deliver a top-notch transportation system helping connect the community and shaping the region for years to come.

The project included utility work, earthwork, roadway reconstruction, retaining walls, architectural concrete, new stations, pedestrian improvements, and traffic signals. Work within the Weber State University campus includes a new bus-only road running through the center of campus and a BRT station located next to the student union. Major work on campus was performed during the summer months to avoid impacting the university.

The route also included the addition of a mile-long dedicated bus lane and widening of city streets, all of which helped extend the bus line’s service area. As part of the project, we constructed 13 stations with 22 individual platforms. The stations showcased artwork created by local artists who entered a competition hosted by the Ogden City Arts Council, helping beautify the area as we made it more connected.

Special thanks to the entire project team that worked so hard to make this such a great success story.
