About the Project

Stacy Witbeck was the managing partner on this $60 million design-build project to construct a three-mile extension of the SMART commuter rail system. This project extended the original line south from San Rafael to connect Marin County’s largest transit center to the Larkspur Ferry terminal, where commuters can access the ferry to San Francisco.

Scope included constructing two new bridges, one bridge rehabilitation, a multi-use path, one station, five grade crossings, train control, and communications systems work.  Our subsidiary company, Modern Railway Systems, performed the system design, installation, and testing for the signals and Positive Train Control (PTC) systems and the design and testing of the communication systems.
